The Pridmore Shiraz
The Pridmore Shiraz is named after the late Dr Brian Pridmore from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Adelaide. He was a huge influence on the Chief Winemaker, Bronwyn Lillecrapp's decision to return to University at 55 to study Winemaking. He also saved her life. Bronwyn decided to name one of our premium wines after him, always.
This wine is made from the same row of Shiraz grapes every year from the Lillecrapp property. It is always aged in New French & American Oak for 23 months and makes this wine big, rich and complex, with huge ageing potential. The American oak gives a soft Vanilla flavour to the wine and the French oak, give the strength and guts to this elegant wine. Also know, that for a wine to be able to handle new oak with out being sharp and over oaked, you need fabulous fruity, well grown grapes that can handle it. Our grapes do and the wine is always in perfect balance.
The oak used in the Pridmore Shiraz imparts sweet vanillin oak, elegant spice and white pepper. The wine is well balanced with rich, ripe berry fruit, chocolate and liquorice on the nose and palate. It has a long smooth velvet finish and a full rich palate. This is a prestigious wine to be enjoyed now and will improve with correct cellaring for up to 10 years.
The Footstompers Shiraz
The Footstompers Shiraz is again picked from the same row of Shiraz every year. The difference from the Pridmore is that this wine is aged purely in New French oak for 23 months and we traditionally stomp on it each year. This gives maximum colour and maximum tannin to the wine. This is a big, gutsy wine and again has huge ageing potential. French oak is the best oak for delicate cool climates, such as Eden Valley. This wine is also a meal within itself.
The nose and palate display nuances of black pepper, cedar, dark berry fruit, liquorice and chocolate. This full bodied wine has great length with the French Oak enhancing the flavour and structure of this wine. This wine of elegance and style, is ready to drink now and will improve with correct cellaring for up to 10 years.
The Juuso Merlot (pronounced you - so)
This wine is named after Juuso, who was a Finnish Exchange student that stayed with the Lillecrapp family in 2003. He was very memorable and worked so hard during vintage that we named the wine after him. This merlot is always a big, gutsy merlot with alot of cherry and chocolate flavours. It is always aged in shaved and sometimes new French Oak.
Aged for 23 months in French Oak. This gives the wine excellent balance of fruit and oak. Typical of the Eden Valley region, this Merlot is big, bold and rich in cherry, chocolate and soft cedar. Good acid balance finishes this wine with long sweet fruit and a dry finish. Ready to drink now and will improve with correct cellaring.
The CCC Cabernet Sauvignon
CCC stands for Cathy Callaway Cabernet. This wine is named after a family member of ours, who is unfortunately not with us anymore. She was a huge fan of our wines and worked hard to spread the word in Sydney. We love her and miss her very much. So in her honour we have named her favourite wine after her.
This is a traditional Eden Valley Cabernet. Always aged in New and shaved French Oak for 23 months. The wine displays perfumed aromas of violets, olives, eucalyptus, liquorice and blackcurrant. The palate is full of fruit flavours, black pepper, chocolate and cedar. A well balanced wine with a long palate. Ready to drink now and will improve with correct cellaring.
The Shiraz
This Shiraz is from the same row as the Footstomping and Pridmore Shiraz. The difference is that it is aged in New & shaved French & American Oak. This makes the wine softer earlier, as the others need a year to settle. Always full of fruit and always a winner. This wine is only available in Singapore and at Adelaide's House Of Chow Restaurant.
The Riesling
Hand picked and basket pressed the 2008 Riesling displays all the characters of a classic Eden Valley Riesling. Citrus, lime and pears on the nose and palate with a crisp acid finish. It also shows the characters of the later ripening stage, such as tropical fruit which is prominent on the nose. With a well structured length, this wine can be enjoyed now and will develop aged characters over the years if cellared correctly.
