Our family, the Lillecrapp family bought land in the township and surrounds of Eden Valley in 1864. William Lillecrapp then, in 1866 subdivided the land and made it into the township of Eden Valley. That was when the first homestead Rushlea was built. This is now our Cellar Door. 6 generations on, the Lillecrapp family have a Winery and Cellar Door in the heart of Eden Valley and 60 acres of Vineyard consisting of 7 grape varieties for wine: Wolf Blass and Warburn Estate take most of our grapes for their premium wines, we keep 50 tonnes to make wine for you.

The Winery |
Our winery was built in 2002 and that was the year of our first vintage. Grapes have been grown by Bryce and his father for over 50 years. Our premium wines are handpicked and all wines are hand made and basket pressed, by the family. This allows concentration of flavour and is what makes our wines so special. Our Footstomping Shiraz is also crushed by the traditional Footstomping method before it is pressed. This generates maximum flavour, goodness, colour and tannin from the skins.

Bryce grew up and was born on the Fernfield property. He attended Kings College and has worked on the land ever since. Bryce planted the majority of grapes on the Fernfield property and maintains 60 acres of vines. He suggested we build a winery after Bronwyn decided to go to University to study Winemaking. Bryce is also a Past President of the Rotary Club of the Barossa Valley and current member. He restored the first homestead built in Eden Valley, Rushlea Homestead.
